Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council to Host Western PA Turf Conference and Trade Show

The Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council (PTC) will host its annual Western Pennsylvania Turf Conference and Trade Show from Tuesday, March 6 through Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the Greater Pittsburgh ExpoMart & Radisson Hotel, Monroeville.

Conference speakers will include the industry’s top experts who will highlight innovations and the latest research in turfgrass management. Pesticide update training required for certified pesticide applicator license renewal will be awarded for attendance at specified educational sessions. Throughout the day on Tuesday, March 6, and Wednesday, March 7, registrants can also attend the trade show featuring nearly 100 suppliers to the industry displaying the latest innovations in supplies, equipment and technology.

Tuesday’s conference program includes concurrent tracks on general interest issues and topics of interest to golf course management. Wednesday’s three concurrent tracks are for turf concerns related to golf courses, grounds maintenance, and athletics fields. On Thursday there is a single general session with three topics, highlighted by a question and answer session with a representative from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

Conference sessions will be augmented this year with specialized training for mechanics who work on turf equipment and golf turf managers. The two-hour Mechanics Workshop will be held on Tuesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. with Dr. Aaron Yoder, Penn State, moderating a session that features new products and a question and answer sessions with local distributors. The latest in practices will be presented in the Golf Turf Management Workshop on Tuesday from 2 – 4 pm and features Paul Latshaw, Sr.

The complete conference program and registration forms can be found at www.paturf.org.

PTC sponsors this conference each year in support of turfgrass research, teaching and extension at Penn State University. For information about exhibiting or registration, contact the PA Turfgrass Council Registration Office, 814-355-1912 or email at busofc@paturf.org.
