FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 22, 2005
PTC Provides Penn State Research
Results On The Web
In cooperation with the Center for
Turfgrass Science at Penn State, the
Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council has
created a Resource Center as part of a
redesign of the PTC website. Along with
contact information for turfgrass
experts from Penn State, the Resource
Center makes available reports on
research that is supported by the
Council’s fundraising efforts.
Penn State’s 2004 Turfgrass Research
Report was posted in the Resource Center
on March 17. At this time, the report
can also be accessed directly from the
PTC homepage at
http://turf.cas.psu.edu/research.cfm.
Because the Center for Turfgrass Science
is not issuing the report in print form
this year, PTC’s website is the easiest
way to locate this information. Released
just last week, the annual report
includes results of PTC supported
research on:
-
Fungicide Evaluations
-
Herbicide Evaluations
-
Fertilizer Evaluations
-
Topdressing
-
Athletic Field Studies
PTC’s web link can be used to review
each of Penn State’s annual turfgrass
research reports from 1999 to the most
current. The reports can be read online
or printed by specific article.
The Turfgrass Council has contributed as
much as $200,000 a year to Penn State’s
turfgrass research from funds raised
through membership fees, conferences and
trade shows, and events. Contributions
to the Pennsylvania Turfgrass Research
Trust founded by PTC in 2004 will help
continue Penn State research that is
essential to the future of the turfgrass
industry.
PTC’s website includes details on the
Growing the Game campaign that the
Council has initiated to fund the
Research Trust.
The Pennsylvania Turfgrass Council
promotes professionalism in all facets
of the turfgrass industry by providing
educational opportunities, grants and
support for education and research
projects, encouraging future industry
leadership through scholarship and
awards, and promoting interaction with
government agencies, private
institutions and the general public.
Members include golf course
superintendents, owners/operators of
lawn care services, nurserymen,
landscapers, sod growers, sports field
managers and industrial representatives. |
